Vienna, April 4 – 9, 2006
Artistic Director: Robert Punkenhofer
Artists: Norbert Brunner, Oliver Hangl, Nadine Robinson, Odalys Valdivieso, Eugenia Vargas Pereira
Following its successful launch in 2005, the Vienna Art Week takes place for the second time in April 2006. Panelists at the many round tables and discussions include Roger M. Buergel, artistic director of documenta 12, and Robert Storr, director of the Biennale di Venezia 2007. Topics range from The Art Market and Curatorial Practice to Art and Psychoanalysis. Artistic interventions showcase cutting-edge works by artists such as Norbert Brunner, Oliver Hangl, Nadine Robinson, Odalys Valdivieso and Eugenia Vargas Pereira. In Sleepshow, Hangl focuses on temporarily “eliminating” key figures of the Art Week by consensually drugging them with sleeping pills. Nadine Robinson presents The Colored Congregation, using twenty sheep for a performance piece at the historic central Ringstraße. Brunner installed his piece TIMEPILLS at Robert-Stolz-Platz, interactively communicating between Vienna, Moscow and Beijing. And last but not least Vargas Pereira and Valdivieso set up their mobile radio station Talking Head Transmitters.
