Challenge — A Presshaus in the Weinviertel, particularly in the Pulkautal, is a characteristic building that plays a central role in the region's wine culture. It combines architecture, history, and culture, and is a symbol of the centuries-old wine tradition in Lower Austria.

Objective — The Presshaus originally had a purely practical function: the grapes for wine production were pressed here, the must was collected, and then stored in the cellars. The underground cellar vault provided protection against temperature fluctuations and ensured the quality of the wine.

Presshaus also served as meeting places for the village community or winemaking families during harvest time. The goal of the project was to transform this press house into a recreation and event venue while preserving its historical substance.

 
 

Accomplishment — The Presshaus in the Pulkautal is much more than a simple functional building. It is an architectural testament to the cultural and economic significance of viticulture for the Weinviertel region. Its development reflects the history of the area, and it remains a living symbol of tradition and craftsmanship.
