The two installations Cuban artist Ángel Ricardo Ricardo Ríos presents at Art&Idea are specifically designed for the gallery space. Ríos uses objects that belong to the historical and collective memory, that have as much to do with art as everyday life. They are assembled in a way that represents reality, but at the same time creates another parallel reality, which is the main theme that the work reflects upon. The pieces are montages constructed in dialogue with the space, where Ríos consciously models the behavior of the audience, conditioning specific attitudes through the manipulation of categories pertaining to the space – texture, scale, color and materials.
